Tablets, Goals & First Aid—Oh My!

Tumaini Tutor Students Gear up for Greatness!

Tumaini students are thriving in their studies with added Wi-Fi tablets.

Thanks to the generous support of donors, Tumaini students and teachers have additional tools for learning: 15 NEW Wi-Fi tablets!

For most children and teachers here, computers are out of reach—none are in homes, rarely in schools, and never for everyday use. That’s why each tablet makes such a big difference.

This summer, U.S. volunteers personally delivered the new tablets, each with a protective cover—bringing Tumaini’s total to 25! With every tablet added, student learning opportunities multiply.

Now, students explore interactive math and science lessons, watch engaging educational videos, and dive into a whole new world of discovery.

Their favorite? The fun, kid-friendly Generation Genius science programs!

Tumaini Students going for their  GOALS!

In a community where daily struggles often center on food and access to school, most children have never been encouraged to dream about their future or set personal goals. That’s why this program is so special.

SMART Goal Setting workshops were presented to Tumaini teachers and students by Health & Hope volunteers. With thoughtful conversation and problem-solving, each person's Goal Worksheet was completed.

Now, student SMART Goal Progress sheets are proudly displayed in classrooms!

Special Goal Celebration Assemblies are scheduled monthly. Here, students' steps for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Bound goals are celebrated by enthusiastic applause - reminding them that even a small step forward is worth celebrating.

Basic First Aid and CPR Education

In communities where resources are scarce, a simple injury can easily become life-threatening. Cuts, burns, sprains, or choking often lead to preventable complications when families lack first aid knowledge or access to care.

Thanks to donor support, Tumaini students and teachers are now prepared with new skills in Basic First Aid and CPR that could save lives in their homes, schools, and villages.

This summer, Health & Hope volunteers trained Tumaini students and teachers in hands-on Basic First Aid—equipping them to respond to common home, school, and sports injuries with confidence.

Basic First Aid certificates were awarded following written and practical tests.

Highlights included learning how to help a choking child or adult and practicing CPR on our training mannequin.

  • Even primary students—many of whom care for younger siblings—eagerly learned how to respond in emergencies, gaining skills that could one day save a life.
  • Now, they can confidently assess an emergency, call for help, and begin CPR—life-saving steps that may change the future for a child, sibling, or neighbor.
  • Helping Each Other: Meet Team Tumaini Medics!

Our student team is trained and always ready to clean wounds, apply splints, and confidently use a triangular bandage for multiple purposes. Their motto: Always Ready!

Tumaini School Expansion

Exciting news—Tumaini has grown!

Our brand-new classroom provides additional learning space and a dedicated laboratory area for students to conduct a wide range of science experiments.
